Today I picked my one and only Austin pomegranate from my three year old tree. This was my biggest pomegranate among all of my trees this season, it grew to 8.75 inches in diameter. The taste was a little on the tart side but it was a close balance between tart and sweet. I know others here have described Austin as being sweet with a slight hint of tart so I attribute the tartness to my tree still being young and only having a 5-6 month growing season. Next year fruit yield should significantly increase along with the fruit size and flavor profile. I'm chalking this up as a win for 6B.

Thanks! Definitely a medium hard seed. Not unbearable by any means. I’ve never tasted a soft seeded pomegranate so I’m really curious to compare medium hard and hard to.

Thanks for your feedback.
The soft seeded seeds are as hard as sunflower seeds without their shells, more or less.

Looks great - congrats! I’ve been considering this one given I’m in Texas.

Sounds super great and looks gorgeous! Because I’m in Austin, I decided to get some cuttings from fruitwoodnursery along with my order of loquat scions. It’ll be fun to grow!
I grow double flowered, unknown fruiting ("Wonderful"?), and "Red Silk"
