It was a bit of a weird year in SoCal. Only my in-ground Parfianka produced more than one fruit. It's also been a busy year and I didn't keep up with all of the potted trees as well as I should have.

I finally am starting to get enough pomegranates where I cannot eat them all fresh. In any case, I prefer the juice, even with soft seeded varieties. I did a little research on how to juice pomegranates and while the manual juicers look nice, I really do not have the room for one of these. This ...

No new poms on the horizon for me unfortunately. I missed this year's CRFG scion exchange, so no cuttings other than some figs.

I have had great success direct rooting figs outdoors. Parafilm is a must as all those I tried to root without parafilm died. I have had good success rooting poms in DE ...

I just noticed today that my inground Parfianka as well as a couple of potted Poms have all broken dormancy. A couple of smaller potted figs have broken dormancy as well.

How tough are pomegranate trees?

So I was browsing reddit tonight and saw a story in which some landscapers actually butchered a pomegranate. The amount they took off would kill some types of trees, but for others, like figs, this is simply a haircut.

So how tough are pomegranate trees?
