I dried some arils!

Post by greenfig »

I had some extra poms and decided to dry them in the oven. The result is incredible! It’s like sweet crunchy blueberries with cherries :) The variety is soft seeded and after drying the kernels the seeds got even more soft. I think it may become my favorite snack until the next season!
I dried them at 140F as indicated on the oven but haven’t actually measured the temp so it could be a bit more or less. It took me 2 days of on and off multiple times.

Cool! I’ll have to give that a shot sometime.

When I have a large enough crop I will certainly try that.

Thanks!
This is my first time, not sure how to store them properly.
Any suggestions?
I made a full cup of them!
I keep the dry seeds in a jar with lid.

In a sterilized jar 'in the fridge', is the best way 'if you don't need to store a really long time'.

If you had made a much larger amount, then the freezer 'in doubled up freezer bags', would most likely be the best option for most of it.
