Nectarine Advice

Post by Eykca »

I have a love/hate relationship with nectarines. My family and I love them, but the trees are super finicky. As somebody who prefers pomegranates, I'm not used to growing high maintenance fruit trees. I have a yellow nectarine and a white one and recently planted a Spice-Zee nectaplum. The issue I am having with the my nectarines is leaf rust and then drop. They always bounce back, but obviously this means no fruit. I've been spraying them with a copper fungicide, but I'm not sure its making a huge difference. This year I even started treating them before any signs, but sure enough, i'm getting some spots.

Are there any nectarine aficionados out there that can give me some advice? Am I missing something or are nectarines just the cats of the tree world, finicky and high maintenance.
