Russian & Iranian numbered varieties synonyms

Post by bopcrane »

Thought this might be useful to some others, it was originally sent over to me by Cindy at Green Sea Farms pomegranate nursery (wonderful pomegranate resource)

Pomegranate cultivars at the US Southeastern Fruit and Nut Lab, Byron, GA. These selections were brought from Turkmenistan Russia (R) or Iran (I) in 1976.

ID# Cultivar Name

R-2 Mejhos 6269
R-5 Sakerdze
R-6 Al-sirin-nar
R-7 Kaim-anor
R-8 Salavatski
R-9 Kaj-acik-anor
R-11 Sejanec 2-5/8
R-12 Apseronski krasnyj
R-14 Krmyzy-kabuh (Denau)
R-16 Kara bala miursal
R-19 Nikitski ranni
R-20 Zubejda (Denau)
R-24 Kunduzski
R-25 Bala Miursal
R-26 Afganski
R-29 Apseronski
R-30 Kazake
R-31 Saartuzski (Yalta)
R-33 Surh-anor

I-2 Alk Pust Ghermez Saveh
I-5 Shirin yazd
I-6 Tabestani malas Biranden saveh
I-7 Dorosht 5 hahanshahi Khoramabad
I-8 Entek habi saveh
I-9 Shirin pust siah
I-10 Mahali Dezful
I-11 Shirin Pust Ghermez Saveh
I-12 Shirin Kuhy Ardakan

There are selections from this collection in circulation and known by their Russian ID number. For example, Russian 8 is available from nurseries. It should not be identified as such, but by its proper name, Salavatski.
