Re: Angel Red Flop

For what it's worth, the local fruit club says it should do OK where I live. It's one of the three varieties they recommend for people close to the coast along with Parfianka and everysweet.

There's a fruit tree expert who does consultations for about $150. I'm thinking about hiring her. I have a ...

Angel Red Flop

Hi all,
I have a 5 year old Angel Red that fruited for the first time this year.
Fruit set late, in early July and grew to about the size of a baseball or a little bigger.
However, the fruit had no flavor whatsoever and the arils were shriveled and brown despite the fruit looking good from the ...

Re: Parfianka Pruning

Thanks! I was mainly curious to see how much support they needed for their vertical growth. I like your three trunk idea. In the next year or two I'd like to move this tree to the front of the house. The wind can really blow so more trunk and branch strength will be very important. There is a ...

Parfianka Pruning

Hi, I think this relates nicely to the upright pomegranate threads. I am trying to train my Parfianka into a tree but it has a lot of these floppy branches. When it hit three feet, I took off all growth except the 5 biggest branches.
Do I need to keep trimming them to fatten the trunk?
Do I need to ...

Re: Newbie questions

Thanks to all of you. Now I know. I will keep the Parfianka in the pot til Spring of 2022 and then plant in the ground. My backyard already has a lemon and a Mexican Sweet lime and adding another tree would cut into the dog run I use to keep my 3 year old Sheepdog sane.
The Parfianka I will move to ...

Re: Newbie questions

Thanks for the tips. I live a little over half a mile from the coast where it can be very overcast for much of May and June. The gentleman at what appeared to be an excellent nursery said the Angel Red could do well in this part of town. However, I've read since that Eversweet likely would have been ...

Newbie questions

Hello All, writing from Zone 10b, but less than one mile from the coast. I recently acquired two pomegranates. One was an Angel Red. I believe it is a 2 year old tree. It has one bloom opening on a lower branch I was advised to trim by a friend with many fruit trees. I did just above the bloom which ...
