Re: Is Mridula evergreen?
@pombazaar - Evergreen poms should do fine in your zone - when people say "evergreen" with poms what they really mean is "facultatively deciduous" - in other words, they can go dormant but can also retain leaves year-round if conditions are good. So you can still let them go dormant/store in a ...

Re: It seems like too quiet lately ...
I’ve gotten distracted by finding out that I can grow sugar cane in my zone.

Re: Pink sport of ‘wonderful’
Nice!
Yes, this variety, Shien’s Pink, came from a Wonderful rootstock and is much more cold hardy than Wonderful. My guess is that it was a seedling that was used for rootstock for some reason.
How’s Shien’s white working for you? Anything yet?

You know, I don’t remember, haha. I’ll have to check - my guess would be that it died back to the ground because we had a very late frost.

Nice! In 8a, I don't image Parfianka will have any trouble surviving winters. Pictures of it?

Re: How's your winter going?
Yeah, those late winter freezes are the worst. I'm comforted by a variety I have, Devedisi, that took several nights in the high 20s with no apparent leaf damage - I'm hoping it will be as resistant to late frosts as it is to early ones. Thing grows like a weed too.
