Re: Help me choose -- 7b

Spring seems to be more of a problem than winter.
Poms don't stay dormant long in most situations.
So you will need a plan for when they come out of dormancy and you get a frost while they are breaking bud and leafing out.
You could cover them or you could just wait and see if they survive and see ...

Re: New Member With a Slight Conundrum

Where are you located?

I am in central New Mexico, south of Albuquerque a bit.
Short winters but unpredictable weather patterns.
In November everything got snowed on heavily before they were dormant, that was alarming.

I know a community food forest near here had an Angel Red that died, but I'm ...

Re: 2022 growing season goals

This may be worth trying due to it cutting mold and rot out of the equation, but haven't tried it:

There is also a shorter video without all the dumb jokes that shows up in a google search that he posted on faceborg.

Re: New Member With a Slight Conundrum

I am following your thread on the other forum.
That one has 50 replies over there.
I'm guessing that is the place for conversation.

I have a dormant Grenada that I may plant soon, along with Sirenevyi, Azadi, Sverkhranniy, Utah Sweet,

I planted an Angel Red last year, which is a bud sport of ...

Re: Al Sirin Nar experiences?

Well I ended up getting it.

It's kinda hard to say no to a 5 gallon pom for $60.
I'm pretty excited.

Re: Coffee grounds and Pomegranate plants

If your looking for something that would repel them I would think fox urine would work better.
It is a big scary animal that eats them that they would smell and be worried about.
I have seen it sold in stores and asked "why would someone want that?"
They said for this reason, to create a scent of a ...

Al Sirin Nar experiences?

So Al-Sirin-Nar is one that was never on my radar.
Supposedly one of the hardest seeds of them all,
Highly susceptible to fruit rot in an exeriment that took place in humid Southeast,
ripens late.

But notes have been made that it is resistant to sun burn,
complex flavor,
high juice content,
cold ...

Re: New Member With a Slight Conundrum

This sounds like a good opportunity to try one in the house and try planting one outside in the ground now to see what happens.
If the one outside doesn't make it would be sad, but you still have the other one.
It also is not very hard to find another Parfianka.

Re: Angel Red Flop

Here is what I got.
I planted it in early May and really wasn't expecting it to fruit.
I watched a hummingbird pollinate the two that fruited.
Didn't develop much color on the outside and I left it on until they started splitting.
But it surprisingly tasted very good. Sweet with a little tart and ...
