Thoughts on Cloud

I was reading up on the Cloud cultivar developed by UC Davis and saw that it was listed as semi cold hardy. I was thinking about giving it a try here in 6b to see how well it does. The clear arils along with the sweet flavor profile sparked my interest. Has anyone here tasted this or are currently growing one?

I’ve got two plants of Cloud from a friend, one in ground. I’ll let you know if that one survives the winter - The friend who I got it from gets one or two off his every year, but I think he loses a lot to his dog.

I'm looking forward to hearing how yours does in ground! I'm 2 years out before I plan on putting anything in ground here so I'm going to try my luck rooting some over the winter. Worst case scenario -- they stay in containers if the winter cold gets them a few years down the road.

You know, I don’t remember, haha. I’ll have to check - my guess would be that it died back to the ground because we had a very late frost.

It survived, though growth was slow this year. May-time frosts really throw a monkey wrench into everything.
