Wild Pomegranate field in the neighborhood trail

Found a field of wild growing pomegranate trees. From what I can tell, they are 3 different varieties, a very dark purple (almost black), regular red, and a lighter red.
Only took pictures of the really dark ones.
Must be like 15-20 trees growing out there.
Not sure who originally planted these, but they’ve spread out quite a bit!

Hidden gems
Have you tasted any of the fruit? Would love to see photos of the arils if possible. I wonder if they're sweet or sour.

Not yet! I picked 1 fruit from each variety to inspect at home, but they were not nearly close to being ripe yet. I will keep checking the trees and will definitely post updated pictures if I find a ripe one!

Wow! I am curious how they taste as well.
Congrats!
