From my limited experience, Angel Red is a nice pomegranate but hard to root. I would suggest to find a small plant already growing.

After what you and greenfig said about Angel Red I recalled that I may have seen one a week or so ago at Lowe's in the discount section. I went back today and checked and sure enough I found an Angel Red in a 5# bucket on sale, 50% off! I got it and gave it to my wife and she was quite pleased. She's the one that got me hooked on pomegranates and we're excited to see what happens with it. Thanks for the tip :D

Here's a couple of photos of my new Angel Red. Being half price you'd expect it to be a bit Charlie-Brown-ish but it's now in a good home and we'll take good care it :D Thankful to have had someone else do the hard work getting it started and not having to deal with rooted cuttings. Would love to try it once I have some free time after my house renovation!

I was just at the Madera, CA fairgrounds for the pomegranate festival this last Saturday. Right across the street there is a Lowe's, so I figured I would stop by and see if they had any. They had 6!!! I grabbed one and wanted to hop on here and let anybody in the central valley who might be looking for one know.

How are you fertilizing and watering them, by the way?

We've got individual sprinklers on each one of them and this last summer ran the zone for about 30 minutes 3x a week. They were young trees so we wanted to make sure they had enough water (and they're in a sand/garden soil mix so it's well draining). End of September, beginning of October the watering schedule dropped to about every 5-6 days, and now that we've picked the fruit it's down to once a week until the rains start.
No fertilizer yet, but will probably start next year. We'll have to learn what they need, so any suggestions (easy suggestions!) would be helpful!
Have gotten through juicing about 1/3 of our small crop and yielded about 25 ounces so far. Here's a couple photos :)
