Wow! It looks great, congrats.
How big is the pot?
What soil mix did you use ?

Thank you! I'm so excited to try these. I've been anticipating it for over 2 years haha.
This is a 15 gallon pot with Happy Frog soil. I fertilize with Grow More 20-20-20. It's a water soluble fertilizer that's similar to Jack's / JR Peters.
I used to spend a lot on premium soils but now I’m getting into composting. I mix in grass clippings, leaves, eggshells, banana peels, and basically anything I can find lol.

Wow! It is so dark. Mine are rarely that dark.
How did it taste?
I gave one to my neighbor and he said it tasted like an expensive Pinot Noir

I was surprised since that vine is not sweet and the pom was, lol.

Ya know, I actually thought about your Parfianka when I cut mine open haha
Very dark indeed! The taste was good but a little on the bitter side and acidic with a hint of sweet. I would say that this pomegranate was probably at a maturity stage of 9-10 out of 12. If it would have made it another 40 days without splitting I think it would have tasted much more favorably. I'm just happy to have had a pomegranate grow to this size in container in zone 6B. That's a big win for me!
Get this...I tasted a Salavatski that grew only about half the size of this one but is about 30 days ahead because it flowered earlier. It was very sweet with almost zero acid. The hull was still mostly green too. So my hope is that one or two of the remaining larger sized Parfiankas make the last 40 days of the season. I'll post one more update on this tree mid November

Parfianka is late for your zone.
You probably would need Sverkhranniy or Medovyi Vahsha or even Angel Red. My Parfianka is best tasting for me for Halloween, and I am in z10a!
Congrats getting this far, impressive!

Did you mean Sverhrannii (DPUN 162)?

Yes, extra k was a typo on my phone.
I have a second year tree in the ground that may flower next year. I should be able to taste it and compare to the rest of the Russian varieties

@alanmercieca Sverhrannii (DPUN 162) and Sverkhranniy (DPUN 013) are both listed in GRIN. They are listed in The Incredible Pomegranate as the same variety. DPUN 162 is no longer available in the GRIN repository.
